شيئا فشيئا تتسلل Google عملاق محركات البحث نحو مناطق التحدي الكبرى مع الشركات الأخرى الأكثر قوة، فلم يكفها السيطرة على نظام البحث على الإنترنت ومايتبع ذلك من متصفحات والمشغلات التابعة لها مثل المراكز الاخبارية والبحثية وبرامج الاستعراض للصور والملفات بأنواعها المختلفة ولكنها الآن تتوجه نحو أنظمة التشغيل سواء لأجهزة الحاسب المحمول او اجهزة الاتصالات.
كروم لأنظمة التشغيل
البعض وصفه على انه مجرد متصفح عادي ينافس الاكسبلورر اوالفيرفوكس وغيرها ولكن هذه ليست الحقيقة في نظام التشغيل من قوقل والذي يسمى كروم، فالاستراتيجية التي بنت عليها الشركة نظامها تختلف تماما عن الافكار المعتادة للمتصفحات، تقول قوقل إن استخدامات الانترنت سابقاً تختلف كثيراً عن استخدامنا الحالي للشبكة ففي السابق كان الهم الاكبر هو استعراض المواقع واستقاء المعلومات والملفات الموجودة بها ولكننا الان نستخدم الشبكة لأهداف كثيرة لا حصر لها، مثلا يقوم ملايين الاشخاص يوميا باللعب عبر الانتنرت، يتحدثون ويتكلمون ويجمتعون عبر الانترنت بل ويتعلمون ويختبرون عبر الانترنت وهناك تطبيقات اخرى مثل البوابات التي تمثل الحكوة الالكترونية او مواقع التداول والبنوك والحسابات الشخصية، كما توجد الكتب الالكترونية والصحف...الخ، ولهذا تقول الشركة إن نظامها هو منصة او قاعدة متطورة للتطبيقات الخاصة بالانترنت، Modern Platform for web and application ومن هذا المنطلق اطلقت قوقل نظامها Google Chrome OS for netbooks ويحوي الاسم حقيقة مهمة وهو انه مخصص لأجهزة معينة وذو هدف محدد فهو يعمل على الأجهزة المتنقلة الجديدة المخصصة للشبكات وهو نظام مفتوح المصدر مبني على اللينكس ويتوقع له ان يصدر رسميا في منتصف عام 2010م ونظرا لأنه مخصص لهذه الاجهزة الصغيرة فقد روعي ان يكون برنامجا خفيفا صغير الحجم يمكن تحميله وتشغيله بسهولة، اما كونه مخصص للشبكات فقد امتلأت جنابته بوصلات سريعة للمواقع المهمة التي يمكنك تحديدها كما توجد وصلات لأشهر برامج المحادثات بالاضافة إلى وصلات البرامج المكتبية الملحقة مع النظام، وتوضح التقارير الفكرة من وراء انشاء نظام تشغيل بدل اقتصار عمل جوجل على المتصفحات ومراكز البحث، حيث يفقد نظام التشغيل اهميتة نظرا لإقبال الناس على التصفح واستخدام التطبيقات على الانترنت مما يعني ان دفع مبالغ طائلة للحصول على نظام تشغيل امر اصبح غير منطقيا، مثل مالحاجة الى برنامج مخصص للبريد الالكتروني اذا كنت تدخل الى الشبكة وتستخدم الجيميل والياهو وغيرها، مالحاجة إلى منظم الوقت والمواعيد وهي موجودة في مواقع عديدة على الانترنت ومنها الجوجل نفسة google calendar وهكذا الحال مع مشغلات الفيديو والصوت والآلة الحاسبة وعشرات الخدمات التي يمكن الحصول عليها مجانا من الإنترنت
